Literature Text
I wrap myself in your pages.
Thumbing your edges,
tracing your spine;
feeling the leaves of you
with every fragile turn
Your ink is on my skin.
You mark me. With
Words and rhetoric.
And I'm not sure where
the pages end and I begin
(Canvas est corpus -
I can feel you writing into me.)
And though I'm never sure
if I am lovesong or
parable; dreamscape or
memoir - I love
the ways you write on me.
I am simply afraid
to one day see your
Masterpiece.
And all I have been
is a gloss in your margins.
Thumbing your edges,
tracing your spine;
feeling the leaves of you
with every fragile turn
Your ink is on my skin.
You mark me. With
Words and rhetoric.
And I'm not sure where
the pages end and I begin
(Canvas est corpus -
I can feel you writing into me.)
And though I'm never sure
if I am lovesong or

memoir - I love
the ways you write on me.
I am simply afraid
to one day see your
Masterpiece.
And all I have been
is a gloss in your margins.

Open Parenthesis
(A very old young man
has no apologies, but, perhaps,
many regrets, contained (rarely
visits his mother) in parenthetical
(did not keep up the gymnastics
regimen) asides (tossed the keys
to his buddy and let him wreck
his ’78 Duster and his knee).
The brackets of his shoulders
hold all the asides that forge
a life – the periodic funerals
and silent ellipses following
him across the map and down,
here, to me, waiting with an open
parenthesis.

Literature
Skimming the Pages
Pages turn too quickly
Like fluttering wings let loose
Dreams carried away
And the binding lays out steps
While the cover gives thoughts home
Stories caught inside
Give every sensation
Words shape destiny
Stuttered and uttered so clear
So you need not hear
The great library
That is what life truly is
Countless tales to tell
Each day just another book
And each person living it

Oh wow. Each stanza of this is like a stone skipping across my soul creating little waves that resonate across this little ol' pool of me.
